In March 2026, MEB Design Chartered Architects joined Cherwell School’s Year 12 ‘World of Work’ Day for a second consecutive year. The event connects students with employers from across the region, providing them with the chance to explore various career paths. It also offers hands-on experience in different professions, which helps students gain valuable insights.
Associate Architect Maggie Forrester, and Architectural Assistant/Apprentice Abu Hussain, represented MEB Design at the ‘World of Work’ event. They introduced 20 eager students to the world of architecture. Maggie and Abu shared their professional experiences, explaining the essential skills required to succeed in the field. As a result, students gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to become an architect.
The students had the opportunity to choose from five design briefs: a Centre for Story Telling, a Community Eco Pavilion, a Multi-Use Therapy Hub, a Changing Places Toilet for Glastonbury Festival, and a Multi-Chamber Harvest Store. In their groups, students researched, designed, and modelled a concept sketch for their chosen project. Furthermore, they discussed the key features, advantages, and challenges, which encouraged critical thinking and creativity. The students’ enthusiasm and teamwork were great to see. You can see a selection of the excellent work they produced below.
