MEB Design were appointed by Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to improve Waltham Cross Health Clinic’s external parking and internal and external building fabric. The project was delivered with Conamar under the SCAPE Framework over multiple phases with the clinic remaining in use whilst upgrades to the external fabric were carried out.
New windows, external insulation, roof insulation and asbestos removal works were carried out as Phase 1. New heating installed as part of Phase 2 and a full internal refurbishment and re-ordering was carried out as part of Phase 3. These works were instructed prior to the pandemic and the clinic was also sighted as a Covid Hot Site location. This adaption was incorporated into the design and handed back to the NHS Trust with flexibility to use the space as a full clinic enabling the separation of infectious patients should the need arise.
The completed project created new light and bright spaces to modern space and healthcare standards while also making the building fully accessible with the inclusion of a platform lift.
MEB Design worked closely with the main contractor, project managers/NEC supervisor, M&E, structural, QS and client team to deliver this successful project.
