Salfords Cricket Club, located in Surrey, has experienced significant growth in recent years. As the club expanded, the existing pavilion became too small and outdated. The club needed a more functional space to accommodate its increasing membership and activities. In response to this need, the club launched Project Phoenix, aiming to build a new, modern cricket pavilion that would better support its future growth.
Designing a Modern and Spacious Pavilion
MEB Design worked closely with Salfords Cricket Club to turn their vision into reality. They created a larger, open pavilion that would serve as the main clubhouse on match days. The new design also provides a versatile space that can be used for other club activities and events throughout the year. The goal was to create an inviting atmosphere where members could socialise, relax, and enjoy the game, regardless of the occasion. The main pavilion area became the heart of the club, welcoming members and visitors alike.
Upgraded Facilities for Players and Staff
The design focused on enhancing the experience for both players and staff. The new pavilion includes modernised dressing rooms for both home and away teams. These rooms are equipped with updated WC and shower facilities to ensure a comfortable and functional space for players. With the club’s growing membership, the new facilities are designed to accommodate future needs. They offer enough space and functionality for players to prepare before and after matches, ensuring a top-tier experience for everyone involved.
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency
Sustainability was a crucial consideration in the pavilion’s design. MEB Design incorporated several energy-efficient features, including an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), water butt systems for rainwater capture, and underfloor heating. These elements help reduce the building’s environmental impact while keeping operating costs low. The pavilion also earned an A-rating Energy Performance Certificate, demonstrating the club’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The energy-efficient features make the new pavilion a sustainable, long-term asset for the club and the community.
