MEB Design Architects were appointed for the development of a visitor centre for the Paper Trail at Frogmore Mill
The brief to take the visitor through an interpretation of the development and history of making and printing paper and its contribution to our way of life / civilisation
The project included a new main entrance, large exhibition space, video presentation room, stores, offices, shop, cafe and toilets. These were all to be linked into an existing route around the existing Mill, touring the large historic industrial paper and print making machines that are still in use
The existing building was a listed Grade 2 shed so the works developed the centre within the old timber frame which was reclad and insulated
Project cost £0.5 million. Part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund
