Adventure Plus – Shower Block Grand Opening
MEB Design are delighted to announce the grand opening of the new shower block at Adventure Plus in Clanfield, Oxfordshire. Adventure Plus is an adventure youthwork and outdoor education charity that provides adventure holidays, gap year training programmes & internships from their base in Oxfordshire. MEB Design have been working with the charity since 2014 and the new shower block is the latest development as part of a wider master plan which includes the wooden yurt village completed in 2022 and the future creation of an Adventure Lake and Urban Adventure Zone.
On the glorious sunny evening of 14th July 2023 the rain clouds cleared and MEB Design Director Paul Chester joined Adventure Plus for an evening of jazz, fundraising, and the official opening of the new shower block. Adventure Plus founder Jon Cox demonstrated his excellent trombone playing skills before Adventure Plus director Brian Foxton cut the ribbon (which was quite aptly paper towel) with a pair of outdoor shears.
The project had simplicity and sustainability at it heart from the outset and a cross laminated structure (CLT) supplied by Eurban was chosen for the superstructure and horizontal timber boarding for the external rain screen giving natural timber finishes both inside and out. The substructure foundations were designed by Solid with the internal fit out provided by Cubicle Systems. A selection of photos from the opening and construction can be seen below.
